Am I a Luciferian??
by freemindfade inso my uncle wrote me a long letter out of concern, it was filled with bit of love and concern here and there but also a lot of staunch dogmatic and at times down right disturbing thoughts and assumptions.
if you doubt the bible or jw.org, seems even close family feels you are on a one way track to death by godville.
anyway, he accused me of being a luciferian.

Hmmm, I guess I'm a mixture of Luciferianism and Pastafarianism. -

most would say: "that's old light"
Indeed. Those dates that they have on all the magazines are actually expiration dates. They lose their freshness immediately after distribution and have the shelf-life of bananas.
And as we know, the study books (The Truth that Leads to Eternal Strife, What does the Bible Really Bleach?, etc.) have the shelf-life of a can of tuna.
And now with their new strategy of just using a website, anything and everything can be replaced or tossed at random.
So rather than wasting time, energy, gasoline, and other resources, the best way to keep up with where Jehovah's chariot is heading is to take the current litteratrash, along with the whole singing cart, and your "old light" windowless Kingdumb Haul, and pitch it all in a dumpster. After all, the difference between old light and new light... well really, it's all old light.

Had a major blow out
by freemindfade inmy mom was emailing a group thread of rhetoric about isis and armageddon, and i finally got sick of it and said some pretty intense harsh things about ideals, and wishing for armageddon.
then it went back and forth like some debate, all the while i am holding back unloading serious ttatt on my family.
i put a whole bunch of scriptures where the wonderful yahweh committed infanticide.

- Leave it to JWs to argue that it's someone else's fault for not protecting the children.
- God's celestial chariot needs some crushed baby bones under the wheels in order to get traction.
I wasn't sure which of these sick comments to post, so I gave it both barrels.

Love it!
How about "Jesus' Money Box"
From the Bible we know that in the days of old,
Jesus took collections of everyone's gold.
He took from the rich, and the orphans, and the widows,
Because he needed to build halls with flat roofs, and A/C, and windows.
Entrust Jesus with our money? Of course we can do this!
Because he entrusts his money box with the faithful apostle Judas! -

Hey, they can't help it that they're the most important people on earth. It's not like those crackers and wine were going to eat and drink themselves!

Tower of Babel—unlikely to be a true account!
by abiather inwhen his children want to construct a tower that reaches to the heavens, heavenly father is unlikely to respond, saying: nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.
(gen 11:6, 7).

I never saw JWs at my campus. But there were little brochures available in many locations entitled something like "How to Protect Yourself from High Control Religious Groups." -

Neanderthal man
by scary21 inmy ex husband and father of my daughter was never baptized but is still a believer in the wt.. a couple years ago we were talking about evolution ( which he does not believe in ) i brought up the subject of the neanderthals and how we all have their dna except africans ( the ones that never left africa ).
he said neanderthals are apes and not humans and jw's do not teach that they are humans.
i said i believe they do.. in the life- how did it get here book, under the sub heading " the human family "is says " neanderthal man....... was undoubtedly human.. his response was " they are just talking about what other people believe " ahhhhh .

Billy the Ex-Bethelite believes it's still uncertain ( that was a surprise)
LOL! Actually, I've studied enough biology and anthropology (and religion) that I wouldn't say I'm "uncertain". However, it's not my area of expertise. In my opinion, Wikipedia has good coverage of current research and hypotheses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neanderthal
And I didn't want to get too involved in the debate since I'm a member of the "About 5% Neanderthal Club" and would get my feelings hurt if this turned into a "kill the 'non-human' Neanderthals" thread. The point I was trying to make was to encourage the JW ex-husband to look into the rather fascinating subject for himself. He might "evolve" into an ex-JW.

I got asked THE QUESTION !!
by Tech49 ina little experience that happened very recently:.
another brother, an elder, and i were talking, i was explaining to him and giving him several examples of how a couple of the elders in our congregation were blatantly trying to run their own show, parading themselves around as "representatives" of the body, when the other brothers didnt know what the hell they were talking about.
they are using their "elder powers" to bully and push people around, causing a bit of angst and hurt feelings.

"Jack, it is always important to remember that the brothers are imperfect."
I love, love, love to hear that phrase. As soon as it's been tossed on the table, I play that trump card in every future conversation. "The brothers are imperfect." Say that to me once, and I'll repeat it back to you a thousand times."
Elder Drone: "Billy, don't you agree that Jehovah is directing his organization right here on earth through his FDS, the governing body, and the elders?"
Billy: "Like you said, the elders and the GB are imperfect men. I've made a lot of decisions based on things they said back when I was a teenager and was sure that I'd never graduate high school. And I made decisions based on WT articles back in the 1980s that really haunt me. Decisions I would have made differently if I would have realized that they were imperfect men. But, I guess you're right. I was just too trusting. Thanks for taking the time to reason with me on the reality that these representatives of god are imperfect men. I suppose it helps me to be more understanding when the local elders do something less than perfect and to be more understanding when new articles come out that kick the armageddon can another 10 or 15 years down the road."
And I'll quote them to others.
"Like Br. Drone reminded me the other day, "the brothers are imperfect." So we shouldn't be surprised that this WT is different than what we used to believe. And the brothers will continue to be imperfect until we're all perfect, so we don't have to get too attached to what's in this article, because it will probably change again before armageddon. In fact, it may change several times."
